What Dosing With CBD Looks Like?In our personal experience and what we hear from our customers, we see most pet owners find a base dosage for the good days and then double or triple that dosage for the bad days. To explain, let’s say your dog has a chronic anxiety condition. On a good day, this may mean they are only mildly anxious and just need the edge taken off. The sky is blue with no rain clouds in sight, and fireworks are months away. A bad day, however, could mean they woke up in a state of extreme anxiety or the sky is about to erupt with thunder. With the latter, you can predict if it will be a bad day or not, and many pet owners will administer a higher dosage in preparation. This is completely fine. Dosing CBD doesn't have to be confusing! In fact, some of the best advice we can offer is to monitor how your pet reacts to CBD and make adjustments accordingly. Unlike many drugs, there is little to worry about when increases dosages. Some pets react well to low doses, while others need a good bit more. We always recommend watching for side effects or abnormalities whenever changing dosages, but if you see your pet reacting well to a higher dose, there is nothing to be concerned about. Use the following guidelines for finding the average dosages. As well, you can use these same guidelines to find the correct CBD dosage for your cat, dog, horse, etc. The dosage below are typically administered 1-3 times a day, and we recommend starting in the low tier once a day for the first week before moving up. Hemp CBD Tier Dosage Guidelines:
How Much Hemp CBD For [Insert Medical Condition]? How much CBD oil should I give my dog for anxiety? How much CBD for epilepsy or cancer? These are some of the most frequently asked questions we get, and we have an easy answer for you. For preventive health and aging, 0.022 mg/lb is a great place to start. There’s may be days that you want to increase to help with situational issues like stress or allergies. Most people will only administer CBD once and sometimes twice for preventive health. For all chronic medical conditions, a dosage that falls around 0.068 mg/lb is preferred by most pet owners. The one exception is clinical insomnia which is likely to require a dosage that falls into the strong tier. Hemp CBD is biphasic, and with most dosages, it will have a slight stimulating effect — though it does not appear to be enough to keep your or your pet awake when trying to sleep. What Happens If You Give Your Pet Too Much CBD? All in all, giving your pet too much CBD will just likely result in you wasting money. If you give your pet too much CBD, you may notice that it makes them tired — where a lower dose may have given them a boost in their step. If you notice this side effect, there is little to nothing to worry about. In fact, some pet owners purposely give their pets high doses of CBD to help with insomnia. Common side effects such as nausea or diarrhea may happen, but they are fairly rare and mild. CYP45 Enzymes The one side effect of concern with high doses of CBD is its affinity to temporarily inhibit enzymes that metabolize drugs in the liver — grapefruit does this as well. As such, if your pet is on a dosage-sensitive prescription drug that’s metabolized in the liver, you’ll likely want to keep CBD dosages mild or low. Your veterinarian will be able to help you monitor your pet to ensure that CBD’s relationship with the other drug is positive. In many cases, a specific CBD dosage has led to a decrease in the other drug’s dosage with no increase of side effects. |

PurCBD+ Oil Scientific Resources
Hemp has several compounds known as phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that interact with regulatory receptors throughout the body. By activating them, hemp CBD products can unearth therapeutic support and stability over numerous physiological and cognitive functions. These functions include appetite, stress response, energy balance, immune function, autonomic nervous system, and perception of pain. The Endocannabinoid System All mammals, birds, and even some fishes have a biochemical communication system called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). First discovered in 1990, the ECS plays a unique role in supporting everyday functions from an organism’s perception to stress to keeping the immune system’s response in check. In layperson’s terms, the ECS is vital to keeping the body functioning as it should. We now know that this system can go down which hurts health across the board. Compounds in hemp can help this much-needed system by keeping it active and strong. It does this by activating some receptors that make up the ECS. As well, it helps by increasing the number of endocannabinoids (specialized neurotransmitters) that would normally activate said receptors. Full Spectrum and The Entourage Effect The terpenes and phytocannabinoids interact with each other just as much as they do with endocannabinoids in the body. They often give each other a helping hand. For example, the single compound version of cannabidiol (CBD) has a hard time passing the blood-brain barrier for absorption, and its effects are stunted. This happens because it relies on some of the other phytocannabinoids and terpenes who help pass CBD through where it can then interact with receptors. We call this the entourage effect, and this synergy magnifies potency, gives you the largest range of medical issues hemp can help with and makes dosing simpler. Ingredients Full Spectrum Hemp Extract — Contains the full range of phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids with boosted amounts of CBD, CBG, and CBC for tailored cannabinoid support. Hempseed Oil — This provides healthy fats for the phytocannabinoids and terpenes to attach to, making them much easier for the body to absorb and use. Hempseed oil brings along its own benefits of anti-inflammatory omega fatty acids as a bonus. |
